The Chancellor's Service Award was created to honor "students who (...) have donated their time and energy to making a positive difference at UCLA and in the community. In order to be honored a graduating student must have established a sustained record of commitment to leadership and service through his or her outstanding contributions."
Deramchi, who received a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry, and Salman, who received a Bachelors of Science in Biology, were engaged in numerous organizations and academic positions throughout their undergraduate career. Both Deramchi and Salman joined Epsilon Alpha Sigma their first-year of college, where they quickly took on key leadership roles within their chapter.
Salman entered EAΣ with a passion for recruiting new members and welcoming them into the EAΣ family. Immediately upon her first-year, she became Director of Recruitment, where she revamped the recruitment process and utilized her creative skills to develop new ideas for expanding EAΣ across the UCLA campus.
Beyond EAΣ, Salman was active in the Arab community through the Lebanese Social Club. Through her term as President, she directed the annual culture show, collaborated with universities across the United States and assisted in organizing key professional and networking activities. She also was engaged in numerous research positions at UCLA, including Dr. Daniel Geschwind's Research Lab Investigating Autism Spectrum Disorders.
From social chair to Multi-Interest Greek Council (MIGC) representative to President, Deramchi served various positions during her time at EAΣ and played a key role in building vital organizational guides and structure for her chapter. She was further active in Greek life at UCLA through her Vice Presidency at the MIGC at UCLA, where she helped create a strong, multicultural space by working with all multi-interest fraternities and sororities.
Her leadership activities and contributions to the UCLA community expanded beyond Greek life; she was also active in Eurobruins, a student organization dedicated to bringing the European community together. She further gave back to her campus and encouraged Bruin pride through her design and code for the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame, and the upcoming Mo Ostin Basketball Center.
