Our national board would like to showcase Marina Awed, Winter Quarter's Empowered Arab Sister of the Quarter. This Founding Sister of Epsilon Alpha Sigma's Beta Chapter, the Empowered Arab Sisterhood of UC Davis, has officially debuted her poetry page. We tend to showcase how educated and philanthropically active our Doves are, but little do you all know they are also extremely talented. Amongst many other talents, they can write! And very well might we add. Words are indeed magical and Awed is showing us why.
"For as long as I can remember I have always enjoyed writing. I used to write poems and short stories all the time when I was younger but as time passed and my responsibilities grew I stopped writing for a while. Recently, my passion for writing was rekindled because I really didn't want to study for a final...I wrote a poem about something a friend of mine had been going through but I didn't really think much of it. I showed it to one of the sisters and she encouraged me to post it on Instagram and by the end of the week I had created an Instagram profile solely to share my writings. To be honest, I never really thought anyone would be interested in what I write but the response has been amazing. I look forward to what's next!"
