Epsilon Alpha Sigma is turning six years old today, so to celebrate, we thought we would share six of our favorite moments throughout these past years.
1. Women's empowerment week
Since their first year, our beta chapter at UC Davis has hosted a ''Women''s Empowerment Week." This week has included numerous events that addressed what it means to be an Arab-American woman, including a discussion by anthropology and gender studies professor, Dr. Suad Joseph on being an Arab woman in America.
2. Middle East WEEK
3. Gamma chapter'S Commitment to their community
4. World In-Sight Fair
Doves at our delta chapter at Michigan State University brought the Dabke (a traditional dance) to the annual ThanksLansing event hosted by the university's Refugee Development Center. Through the dabke, doves represented the Arab culture and helped refugees in their community feel a bit more at home.
6. Remembering the refugees
Since our first banquet at UCLA in 2013, Remembering the Refugees has raised $89,000 to support medical aid, transportation and education for refugees. We have two more banquets coming up at UC Davis and UC Riverside, and we look forward to see you there!
